Hi everyone, hope you are doing well. This time let’s talk about a beautiful waterfall in Sri Lanka, Diyaluma Falls. The speciality of this waterfall is, it is the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. (You may the know, the highest one is ‘Bambarakanda Falls’.) Diyaluma Falls is so beautiful and attracting waterfall in Sri Lanka. The immense height of it adds more beauty to it.
Diyaluma Falls is 220m (720ft) high. And according to Wikipedia, it is the 361st highest waterfall in the world. It is formed by ‘Poonagala Oya’.
How to Reach Diyaluma Falls?
The falls is situated in Koslanda, Badulla District. The exact place is 5.1km away from Koslanda town (towards Batticaloa) on Colombo-Batticaloa highway. See the route from Koslanda below.
The waterfall can be seen from the main road also. But it is more beautiful when you go close to it. But beware that the path is difficult and you have to be very careful. You will have to go on rocks and some of them are slippery. So again, you have to be very careful.
When we visited, unfortunately it was the dry season. So there was a very small stream of water
Outside the dry season, Diyaluma falls carries much more water down. Just Google it and you will see.
There are some sad stories combined with Diyaluma Falls also. About a year ago a young couple jumped to their death, from the top of the falls.
Check the video below also. It was also taken at the same time of the these photos.
So, there is not much to tell about this. You just have to go there and feel the beauty of it. But if you have any doubts or you need any other information, please leave a comment below. I am more than happy to help you. See you in the next post.
